Full Moon Uttara Ashada

Full Moon in Uttara Ashada, 27° Sagittarius ♐︎

Wednesday July 13th 20:40 CET

Uttara Ashada, ‘the universal star’

This Full Moon will be in the nakshatra Uttara Ashada, the latter victor or the final victory, at 27° of Sagittarius, which relates to number 9 numerologically. Considering these aspects together gives rise to thoughts about completion, endings and accomplishments coming into focus, as well as the higher teachings that we live by.

This nakshatra is called ‘the universal star’ and is symbolized by an elephant’s tusk, which represents good fortune and triumph over difficulties. The elephant’s tusk also leads the mind to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, adding to the theme of overcoming obstacles and victory.

Full Moon Uttara Ashada

Uttara Ashada is home to the ten sons of Dharma, righteousness, called the Vishvadevas, each representing a universal quality to live by. They are: goodness, truth, willpower, skillfulness, time, desire, firmness, ancestors, abundance and joy. Combined with the planetary ruler for this nakshatra which is the Sun, there is a strong theme of dharmic action and morality to be found here.

This nakshatra represents qualities such as determination, idealism and curiosity about the deeper meaning of life and the mysteries of our existence. This is a Full Moon that can bring out our inner truth and is an ideal time, especially with Saturn about to retrograde back into Capricorn, to evaluate our ideals and how they are represented in our surroundings and day-to-day life and in our work.

The seeds that were planted in the previous nakshatra, will under the influence of Uttara Ashada be shone upon by the light of our inner Sun; our values and righteousness, and in any instance where there is no congruence between (self-)will and right action, our inner knowing will make itself known if we’re open to it. Ignoring our inner truth may lead to things not going as planned, or unexpected obstacles putting our plans to a halt later down the road as a result.

If aligned, this Full Moon is an excellent opportunity for growth and igniting our inner passion to lead us forward, with a sense of victory. Visualize Ganesha in your mind’s eye during your meditation practices this Full Moon, and keep a mindset of perseverance and servitude.
