Full Moon in Purva Bhadrapada

Full Moon in Purva Bhadrapada, 23° Aquarius ♒︎

Saturday September 10th, 12:00 CET 23° Aquarius

This Full Moon in Purva Bhadrapada in Aquarius urges us to courageously pursue our unique vision, and to let go of any fears that stand in our way.

Purva Bhadrapada ‘the scorching pair’

Purva Bhadrapada, the former lucky feet, stretches from the sign of Aquarius into Pisces, and is ruled by the deity Aja Ekapada, the one-footed goat, who is believed to be a different form of the storm god Rudra. This nakshatra, called ‘the scorching pair’, is made up of two stars from the constellation Pegasus, the winged horse, showing this nakshatra’s ability to rise to the occasion and deep rooted desire to follow one’s own path.

The symbol for this nakshatra is either the two front legs of a funeral cot (the back legs being the next nakshatra, making the symbol complete), a sword or a two-faced man. The funeral cot represents the ending of a cycle, the journey from this life into the next, while the sword indicates our mental prowess, determination and righteousness. The two-faced man can be taken to symbolize the polarities of our mind, of being torn between the external (materialistic) and internal (dharmic) forces operating in our lives.

The planetary ruler for this nakshatra is Jupiter, the benevolent teacher and its motivation is artha, or goal oriented action, which adds to the fact that this nakshatra pushes us to stand on our own two feet and to follow our own vision; often something that concerns making the world a better place, usually inspired by humanitarian ideas. An aspect that is heightened also by the fact that the Full Moon taking place in Aquarius – the humanitarian rebel.

Full Moon in Purva Bhadrapada

The previous New Moon that took place in Magha, ‘the mighty’, in Leo, inspired us to look within, to find our inner fire and to follow its light. This Full Moon can, in part, bring more of the same energies, but highlighting also the deeper aspects of our potential fears or mental blocks that hinders us on our path. It could also shed light upon our motivations; whether we are operating from material goals or our dharmic path, from the truth of our soul.

❧ Am I acting with independence? Or do I let others (people, circumstances) make my decisions for me?
❧ Am I following my own vision or do I rely too much on the validation of others?
❧ To what extent am I able to sacrifice short-term, personal (material) gains for a long-term purpose?

Many blessings!
